Beat Procrastination Forever

You never procrastinate on things you actually want.

Read that line twice.

———

Procrastination is information.

Your body knows something your mind hasn't admitted yet.
Either the task is wrong, or the reason is.

1/ 𝐒𝐡𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐤 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐩

The task you avoid is the task you haven't broken down enough.
"Write the report" is paralyzing.
"Open the doc and type the title" takes nine seconds.

Resistance dies at the first sentence.

———

2/ 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐰𝐨 𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐮𝐭𝐞 𝐫𝐮𝐥𝐞

If it takes under two minutes, do it now.
Tracking it costs more than finishing it.

David Allen built a whole system around this idea.
Friction lives in the starting, not the doing.

3/ 𝐌𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐯𝐞

Willpower runs out by lunch.
The phone in your pocket always wins.

Better environments beat better discipline.
Every time.

———

4/ 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐩 𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬

You have two or three hours a day where work clicks.
Block them on the calendar.
Treat them as untouchable.

That window is where your best work gets done.

———

5/ 𝐂𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐥 𝐨𝐫 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐭

Half of what you're avoiding doesn't actually matter.
You're just feeling guilty about ignoring it.

Put it on the calendar this week.
Or take it off your list forever.

The middle is what drains you.

———

The work you can't stop doing is the work you should be doing.

Pay attention to where your energy flows.
That's the map.
